Joseph (Joe) R. Sparrow Jr.
Apr 16, 2018Sparrow Jr. of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13 at Norwood Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Ross) Sparrow.Born Aug. 13, 1931, in Norwood, he was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Frances (Molinari) Sparrow.He was a resident of Mansfield since 1955.Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. and served in the Korean War.He was a typesetter by trade and worked for several printing companies before he opened his own business.He eventually retired from the Foxboro Co. in 1996.He was an athlete as a youth and enjoyed bowling and playing softball as an adult.He also coached American Legion baseball for years.He enjoyed watching his son play hockey and football and going to his daughter’s basketball and softball games at Mansfield High School.Recently, Joe enjoyed watching his grandson play hockey for the North Attleboro Varsity team.He was an avid Bruins and Patriots fan and could always be found in front of the TV when either team was on.On Sundays, working around the Patriot’s schedule, he enjoyed going to Newport Grand with his daughters and visiting friends.Joe is survived by his children, Cindi Sparrow of Uxbridge, Terri Hebert and her husband Dave of Cumberland, R.I., Donna Sparrow of North Attleboro, Jay Sparrow and his wife Holly of North Attleboro, and B.J. Sparrow and her fiancé Greg of Mansfield.He also leaves behind four grandsons, Kyle, Keith and Kody Hebert and Devin Sparrow.He also leaves behind three siblings, his sister Joan Camelio of Sun City, Fla. and his two brothers, Charlie of Sun City, Fla. and Paul and his wife Donna of Norwood.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday, April 18, at 10 a.m. at Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 N. Main St. in Mansfield, followed by a burial in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, which can be found online at www.he...
